Control is an Illusion

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

This morning, I received a greeting from Kevin, my old friend from New Zealand this morning. We met when I was representing the city of Orlando as an Ambassador to visit Qulin, our Sister city in China back in 2011. Hastings, New Zealand, is also a sister city of Qulin. So we spent a beautiful week together and formed a long-lasting friendship. Kevin is a very kind man. He’s passionate about building a mutually beneficial relationship between people in China and New Zealand. His warm presence will just melt your heart.

Kevin asked me on WeChat “What is happening in the USA? Sadly our news gives us only bad news from there. Are you guys in a safe city?”

A few days earlier, another beautiful friend in China reached out. Winnie is doing a news program called “CHANGE”. She is interviewing 100 people in different industries around the globe about change. She has also asked these questions.

Yes, more than six months later, COVID is still here. Change is inevitable. The only thing that we could be sure of is there is always going to change.

I must say that during the past six months, I see tremendous growth in everyone around me, my family, Athena Sisterhood, and especially me.

Personally, my biggest piece of growth is to let go of control.

Control is only an illusion. The more we learn to let go, the more the magic of the universe will flow through us.

What can we control in this world? Really nothing. We can’t control others. We can’t control how they behave, how they react, how they love. Sometimes we can’t even control our own thoughts, so how are we able to control others and their thoughts?

This “little mind” of ours, constantly playing tricks on us.

Just try to sit still for five minutes and observe. You will be fascinated by how busy your mind is. That is why more and more people are practicing mindfulness and meditation. What is mindfulness? A simple way to describe it is to live in the present moment. Moment by moment.

I have learned that multitasking is not a good thing. It might look like you are accomplishing a lot, however, what is lacking is presence. When one commits to being fully present, they’ll feel the deepest connection.

This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions up and down for me.

Then all of a sudden, I came out of it! Clarity came to me: Control is only an illusion.

I had a Truth Session with Claudette on Tuesday. She is a dear soul sister in Athena Sisterhood and also a Tony Robbin’s platinum sister. She is one of our amazing speakers at our Online Summit coming up in two weeks!!

I believe there is a Truth Goddess living in each of every one of us. She is that inner knowing of who we really are. She helps us to fill all the void that we have in our hearts. I don’t know about you, but my “little mind” is constantly nagging, talking, analyzing and comparing and it is exhausting.

Who is really talking and in control? When I write, it’s not really me because I don’t start knowing what to write or what to say. But then the words just start to flow. During our moments with most clarity, it is our Truth Goddess that is talking. The inner knowing. Our souls.

Five years ago, I started to listen to Dr. Wayne Dyer every day. I listened to his books first, then his “I AM” mediation. I am the one with Divine. Divinity is within each and every one of us.

Sometimes we forget, but will always be reminders.

I believe there are more and more people who are on the same path of awakening.

Awakening to the truth that we are truly not alone. There is a bigger purpose in our lives. That we are not just merely here to go through the motion of living but to let go and let the divine path happen.

We are here to pursue happiness, causeless joy. We are here to contribute. We are here to learn and evolve as a soul. And along the journey, there are many souls who will show up and get on the same train with you. Surrender to the process and enjoy the journey.

Yes, control is an illusion.
